MY CHIROPRACTIC STORY:

I came to Dr. Loper with two swollen hands, unable to use them or my wrists. He very expertly re-aligned my wrists and put me on track to healing. An additional complication nearly incapacitated me, my joints throughout my bodyt became arthritic. Medical doctors wanted to bombard me with steroids but with Dr. Loper’s help, I was able to overcome a majority of the issues with nutrition & chiropractic care. I still have lingering issues that require medical help but my body is fully fit and aligned – ready for medical action – Thanks to Dr. Loper .

Describe what conditions you had before receiving treatment.

I suffered with the swollen hands for one full month before seeking help from Dr. Loper. My hand movements were very restricted. I had just started a job that required intense computer use and the injury slowed my work to the point that I could not continue with that company. In addition, I was unable to carry or lift anything with weight; dishes, laundry, etc. All housework ceased. The nightly pain kept me awake and prevented a good night’s sleep.

Describe the length of these conditions and how they affected your life.

It all began on November 26th until January 14th when Dr. Loper took over my care. Almost 2 months and 1 week.

Describe the various attempts of treatment before seeking Chiropractic care.

Ten days into the injury I sought help from a medical doctor, who took one look at my hands and said, “Oh, that’s going to take a long time to go away.” That was his only diagnosis or advice. He didn’t touch or take any xrays of my hands – nothing! He offered two weeks of prescription anti-inflammatory drugs but said it’d be a lot longer for the swelling to subside. Two weeks later, I saw another doctor for an annual exam. I showed her the hands and her advice was to exercise more, to get the blood flowing. She also, did not touch my hands or otherwise look at them closely.

Describe how you felt about your introduction and treatment here.

Dr. Loper answered my call and was able to see me that same day. He is very calm and calming, especially with a woman who has suffered for a month with painful swollen hands. He listened to me as I described the issues and history of my injury then very skillfully took each hand, examining each with expert eyes. He then popped the ligaments back into alignment. He explained what the issue was with each hand and how his treatment was going to help. He then set up a schedule for me to continue therapy with him while we work on correcting the alignment of the wrists. Yes, it was painful, but it was painful in a way that you knew the hands were getting the help they had needed for a month. I left his office after that first appointment so very relieved that I found someone who listened and cared about my health; I cannot describe how relieved I felt after being ignored for a month by medical doctors.

Describe how your condition responded to treatment, the conditions that have improved, and also any conditions other than what you came here for, that have gotten better.

My hands improved within two weeks, however, the wrists were weak and needed a bit more time to get strength back. The injury to my hands developed into a total body arthritic episode. About 10 days into hand therapy, I noticed joint pain in my feet, knees and arms. Dr. Loper worked with me to determine what the cause could be. He was very helpful in his suggestions for testing. Dr. Loper showed concern and interest in my health beyond providing chiropractic services. When I started seeing a medical doctor about these worsening conditions, Dr. Loper would listen to my medical updates and help me sort through my thoughts about diagnoses. Once I realized that nutrition had a great impact on the state of my health Dr. Loper was there to provide insight and feedback on my nutritional therapy. My medical doctors wanted to start heavy medicines right away but I opted to improve my nutritional health first. Dr. Loper stopped treating me for the weeks that I was under medical care and undergoing nutritional therapy. I appreciate that he did not have me coming in for appointments when he realized that his part of my treatment at this stage was over. After two months of nutritional therapy, my health improved a great deal but the arthritic symptoms persisted. Now I visit Dr. Loper regularly because his services can once again help me as I continue my long trek back to full health. The arthritis causes misalignment in my spine and one visit with Dr. Loper puts me back into health. I always feel so good and refreshed when I’ve been to see Dr. Loper.,

Describe how your improvement through chiropractic care has affected your life.

Starting chiropractic care was the smartest decision I’ve made. Not only do the adjustments keep my body feeling good, but there is an emotional element that I hadn’t noticed until this last episode. This injury/illness has lasted five months so far and the pain associated with it has been very hard to absorb. I struggle with the stress of medical bills, employment, health worries and depression. Dr. Loper works over my spine to find areas of concern and will release tension and misalignment. Whenever he releases a spot that holds my stress, I can feel the release of emotions; it feels like a weight has been lifted off my body. It’s hard to describe the sense of relief but there is no doubt what it is when you feel it for yourself.
